Need funding to get your startup to the next level?
Join the Lightning Lab XX crew to learn about preparing your startup for funding and what investors will look for. We’ll be joined by Wellington angel investor Dave Moskovitz, AngelHQ manager Dave Allison, 8i COO Toni Moyes, and Chris Smith, co-founder of AREA360 and creator of STQRY.
Dave Moskovitz is an experienced entrepreneur turned angel investor, having co-founded one of Wellington’s early web development companies, and taken it from the garage to strategic trade sale. Dave is a great communicator and collaborator who brings out the best in the teams he works with, as well as a dab hand at coding and general sysadmin geekery. Dave blogs at dave.moskovitz.co.nz and curates NZ Startup of the Week blog that features a new Kiwi company going global every week. Check it out at: http://sotw.nz/
Dave Allison specialises in raising funds and growing startup businesses. He has a science and accountancy background, works with social enterprises at the Akina Foundation and also manages Wellington’s angel investment group – AngelHQ.
Toni Moyes is theCOO at virtual reality startup 8i. 8i is using Oculus Rift virtual headset technology – designed for 3D gaming – to produce a new trademarked medium called Holographic Virtual Reality (HVR). For consumers, their platform allows users to create, experience and share the most immersive 3D video of real people, for virtual reality, augmented reality and the web.
In October 2015 the Wellington-based company announced the close of their capital raise of $20mln NZD from leading technology investors such as the discovery channel founder Andrew Hendricks, Ashton Kutcher’s Sound Ventures, Samsung Ventures and others. 8i has offices in Wellington, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Chris Smith co-founded STQRY with Ezel Kokcu – a company that started out building a mobile app, before becoming a bespoke creative experience company, now on the verge of launching a fully scalable automated story-building app. This new venture is called AREA360, and is a storytelling mobile experience that enhances the visitor experience for businesses. After raising an initial seed round in New Zealand, AREA360 closed another $3.5mln USD capital raise from US-based VC in September and are opening of their US headquarters in Seattle, Washington.
We hope to see you there!
