Continuing the tradition of giving back to close the loop between present teams and their future selves, our teams are not only pleased they got to meet with Lightning Lab Alumni, but are thrilled the opportunity arose so early on in the programme.
According to our teams, this was the most helpful event of the Lightning Lab XX experience so far.
The ability to not only connect, but collaborate with alumni from the 2013, 2014 Wellington Digital, 2015 Christchurch Digital and the 2015 Manufacturing programmes throughout the LLXX programme is an incredibly beneficial resource for the teams.
The entertaining evening acted as an opportunity for teams to practice their company pitches and engage in discussion on a relatable level. “It was definitely a comforting experience” (Hannah Duder, Little Yellow Bird). Alumni were surprised to hear how all of the teams were progressing this early in the programme in comparison to their experiences.
Rollo Wenlock, Wipster, encouraged teams to create a company that’s entertaining for people to learn about.
Teams were able to gain an insight into Demo Day and what happens after the programme, causing them to feel both terrified and excited about life after Lightning Lab. A key piece of advice was to provide investors with a compelling story backed by real traction come Demo Day.
