Spreading the Word in Taipei
Lightning Lab Manufacturing goes beyond NZ borders. Programme Director Shawn O’Keefe traveled to Taiwan last week to represent Lightning Lab Manufacturing at the first-ever MOSA founders conference in Taipei. Whether speaking on a panel session, meeting the organisers behind hardware acceleration programmes such as HAX and the Qualcomm Robotics Accelerator, or visiting with investors and manufacturers such as Pegatron, the trip strengthened the partner city relationship between Wellington and Taipei and revealed numerous opportunities for our ventures.
Startup Of The Week: Kine6
Each week we profile a venture from Lightning Lab Manufacturing
The technical challenges that camera operators face around holding focus through a complex shot can lead to many takes or else artistic compromises. Kine6 founders Sean Snyders and Richard Nimmo are taking motion capture technology developed for the giants of the film industry and adapting it to solve the problems of independent filmmakers and cinematographers. The Kine6 focus system gives filmmakers perfect focus every time, with the benefit of increased speed and reduced number of takes. This cost and competitive edge comes hand-in-hand with the capability to control complex transitions in focus with utter reliability – expanding the artistic options for both camera operator and director.
