Lab Techs.

Lab Techs

Don’t have a great business idea at the moment but you want to be involved?

We have room for a number of helpers in the Lab!   Technical Techs, who help build cool stuff; Business Techs, who help build cool businesses and Lab Assistants, who help run an awesome programme.  We’re keen to hear from anyone (students, professionals and others) who would like to be involved.

Tech Tech.

Technical Techs are the code cutting and/or design geniuses that give our Lab Teams that extra technical boost when they need it. And we know they will.

If you:

  • Have tonnes of experience at PHP, Java, .NET, Python, Objective-C, Ruby, JQuery, or design/UI/UX;
  • Can work efficiently and effectively on many different projects at once;
  • Want to experience Lightning Lab so you can meet all the mentors and get exposure to the best in startup coaching;
  • Want to work with some of the hottest entrepreneurial talent in the country; and
  • Live in, or are prepared to move to, Wellington for the programme and are willing to dedicate 100% of your time to Lightning Lab for 12 weeks.

Then we want to hear from you.

There’s pay (it won’t buy you a Ferrari but it’s enough to live), and if you’re the right candidate you’ll be motivated more by the opportunity to have a wicked experience, extend your network in a HUGE way and basically be part of something awesome.

Biz Tech.

Much like the Technical guys our Business Techs are there to give the Lab Teams that extra pair of hands on deck in the broader areas of business.  Think modelling, market validation, social media, marketing, planning…getting out on the street and taking surveys.  There to get things done and in no way the coffee-guy.

If you:

  • Have a bachelors, post-grad or MBA level education (or equivalent experience) in business, coupled with demonstrable entrepreneurial spirit and ability to think outside the box;
  • Can work efficiently and effectively on many different projects at once;
  • Want to experience Lightning Lab so you can meet all the mentors and get exposure to the best in start up coaching;
  • Want to work with some of the hottest entrepreneurial talent in the country; and
  • live in, or are prepared to move to Wellington for the programme and are willing to dedicate 100% of your time during the programme to Lightning Lab.

Then we want to hear from you too.

Again there’s pay, but you too will be motivated more by the opportunity to have a wicked experience, extend your network in a HUGE way and basically be part of something awesome.

Lab Assistant.

Lab Assistants have a special role in the Lightning Lab – one that’s not always glamorous, clean, or even paid.

But don’t let that put you off.

As a Lab Assistant, your role is to help with the smooth running of the Lightning Lab programme itself.

Think organising events including Demo Day (a huge pitching event), looking after our mentors, posting on social media, oiling the lightning rods, writing press releases, doing research and any other  tasks that pop up.  This will look amazing on your CV.

If you are:

  • A student or part-time worker in Wellington;
  • Have an interest in entrepreneurship, startups, or associated activities;
  • Want to get your foot in the door in Wellington’s business scene;  and
  • Have a can do, give it a go attitude.

If any of these sound like you, and you’re interested in a position at the Lab, Drop us a line. We’re keen to encourage new talent.
